Washington State is home to some of the greatest tech companies and startups in the world. I’m always inspired by their whole approach: to imagine what’s possible and make it happen. I want to bring this same mindset to Congress.

That requires government to be as digital, mobile, virtual, and personal as the technology outside these halls. In the House, I’ve launched a New Media challenge to encourage my colleagues to get more involved in social networking, and brought in leading experts to influence how we tackle policy issues.

The same creative thinking that launched Uber and Lyft should be used to spur tax reform. The same innovation that leads to new diabetes and cancer drugs should be adopted when Congress envisions a 21^st Century health care system. The same spark that led to the iPhone should inform how we transform the future of education for our students and reform the VA.

Policymakers should be innovators, and I am committed to continuing to bridge the gap between government and the people we were elected to serve.
