H.R. 1500 | Consumers First Act | NO | The bill would reverse reforms made to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) under the Trump Administration. Instead of working with Republicans to address long standing concerns with the CFPB’s leadership structure, or its unchecked and limitless funding stream, Democrats are attempting to codify their regulatory preferences into law. |

PASSED |
H.R. 1994 | SECURE Act of 2019 | YES | H.R. 1994 would amend the Internal Revenue Code to help Americans of all ages prepare for a financially secure retirement. Included in the bill is the Save Community Newspapers Act, which I introduced with Rep. DelBene. It fixes pension issues at the Walla Walla Union Bulletin, among other smaller newspapers. |
SUSPENSION BILLS
**A suspension bill is a bill passed by the House through suspending the rules to move quickly, circumventing the House Rules Committee. Suspension bills are typically less controversial pieces of legislation, and as the rules are being suspended, they require a higher threshold, two-thirds of those voting in the House, to pass. Additionally, these bills are often passed by a voice vote, without a formal roll call vote.
