H.R. 2639 Strength in Diversity Act of 2020 NO Racial isolation or concentration of poverty is something we must address. However, instead of finding a bipartisan solution, Democrats pursued a top-down, big-government approach that prioritizes teachers unions’ over families. The bill fails to address the biggest problem facing low-income students and students of color- a lack of high-quality educational options. Instead of passing a commonsense, bipartisan approach to addressing these issues, Democrats decided to put politics over people.

PASSED

H.R. 2574 Equity and Inclusion Enforcement Act of 2019   NO This legislation creates a private right of action for violations of federal regulations that prohibit discrimination on the ground of race, color, or national origin in programs or activities receiving federal financial assistance. Republicans stand willing to work on common-sense reforms so that all children have access to an inclusive, diverse, and high-quality education, but this bill is yet another handout to suit-happy trial lawyers.

H.Res. 908 Condemning all forms of anti-Asian sentiment as related to COVID-19 NO Discrimination based on ethnicity has no place in our society. Despite its name, this legislation instead

lets China off the hook for their early cover up COVID-19. This legislation ignores the manipulation of the World Health Organization by the Chinese Communist Party and instead argues that nothing could have been done and no one should be blamed.

H.R. 2694 Pregnant Workers Fairness Act YES I was a cosponsor of this bill, which prohibits employment practices that discriminate against making reasonable accommodations for job applicants or employees affected by pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions.

SUSPENSION BILLS

**A suspension bill is a bill passed by the House through suspending the rules to move quickly, circumventing the House Rules Committee. Suspension bills are typically less controversial pieces of legislation, and as the rules are being suspended, they require a higher threshold, two-thirds of those voting in the House, to pass. Additionally, these bills are often passed by a voice vote, without a formal roll call vote.
