3 Bills Passed to Support Veterans
The selfless men and women who served in our military have given so much both at home and overseas. The least we can do is ensure they are taken care of when they return home. That’s why I helped pass three bills last week that will help do just that, including:
- A bill I helped write, the Commitment to Veteran Support and Outreach Act, to make sure every veteran can access their benefits by funding additional Veterans Service Officers (VSOs) in communities across the country.
- The Mark O’Brien VA Clothing Allowance Improvement Act to help disabled veterans replace clothing that is easily damaged by prosthetics, orthopedic devices, or skin medicines that they need as a result of service-related injuries.
- The Long-Term Care Veterans Choice Act to give sick and disabled veterans the flexibility to use their health benefits to cover assisted living in the comfort of a Medical Foster Home (MFH).
These bills are a small step towards providing the heroes of our country with the care and benefits they’ve earned in service to our nation, and I will keep you updated on our progress as we work together to get them signed into law.
