WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 8, 2019) – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) today joined in helping pass the ACCESS BROADBAND Act (H.R. 1328) in the House, a bill she co-sponsored to bridge the digital divide in rural communities.

“Access to broadband is basic infrastructure in today’s 21st Century economy, but every time I’m in Eastern Washington, I hear from people in our rural communities who are being left behind by a growing digital divide,” said Cathy. “They are having trouble accessing the federal resources they need to ensure our communities are connected. This legislation will help fix many of these roadblocks by streamlining the coordination of federal resources and simplifying the application process for rural communities and small businesses. Our rural communities need to be connected, and the ACCESS BROADBAND Act will bring us closer to that goal.”
