Biden’s Backwards Border Proposal

Immigration Reform

There is an unprecedented crisis at our southern border. Since President Biden took office, more than 1.4 million people have attempted to cross the border illegally. Now, not only is the president ignoring the crisis he created, but he  wants to make it worse by paying $450,000 to immigrants who broke the law and entered our country illegally.

Let me be clear: family separation at the border was wrong, and so is this. It is an outrageous abuse of taxpayer dollars, and it is a slap in the face to every hard working Eastern Washington family trying to make ends meet, and it’s the completely wrong message to send to those who are doing the right thing and waiting their turn to come to America legally.

The Biden administration refuses to get serious on border security, and it’s costing us big time. That’s why I joined my Republican colleagues in sending a letter to the Biden administration demanding answers over these absurd reports. I am also co-sponsoring legislation to prevent any taxpayer-funded settlements from going to individuals who violate our immigration laws.

America is a land with a rich history of immigration, but we are also a nation of laws that must be followed. We cannot continue to allow millions of people to flood across our southern border without consequence, which is why I will continue working to hold the Biden administration accountable for this crisis they’ve created.
