Bill Passed to Protect American Airspace
The Chinese spy balloon we shot down in American airspace in February is the most egregious in a long list of actions by the Chinese Communist Party to try and replace the United States as a global economic and technological power.
Enough is enough. Whether it’s snatching up our farmland, trying to manipulate our kids on social media, or spying on our military bases – the CCP has gone too far. That’s why I helped pass the Upholding Sovereignty of Airspace Act yesterday to strongly condemn the Chinese government for their most recent – and especially brazen – violation of our sovereignty. This bill also gives the president another tool in the toolbox to sanction any individuals who play a role in the CCP’s surveillance program moving forward.
Under no circumstances should an aircraft operated by the Chinese government – or any other foreign adversary – be allowed to fly conducting surveillance in our airspace. By passing this resolution, we are sending a clear message to China and the rest of the world: This will not be tolerated and cannot happen again.
