Demanding Answers From VA Leadership
As I’m sure you already know, the VA Office of Inspector General (VAOIG) released two reports that found 149 veterans have been harmed by Oracle Cerner’s electronic health record (EHR) system and VA leadership even went as far as to manipulate data around training proficiency on the new system!
At yesterday’s House Veterans’ Affairs Committee hearing, I finally had the chance to confront VA leadership about these reports. Their answers made it more clear than ever that the VA continuously brushed aside the concerns I have raised since the EHR system’s go-live.
Watch below to see for yourself:
On top of that, the VA left Mann-Grandstaff employees out to dry when they implemented the broken EHR system. That’s why I also called on VA Deputy Secretary Donald Remy this week to plan for long-term staffing needs as medical centers in Eastern Washington and across the country manage the unnecessary additional workload the system continues to create.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: I will never stop fighting to ensure the red carpet is rolled out for our veterans. Right now, that fight includes holding the VA accountable for the harm they have caused veterans and for their total lack of transparency.
