Getting Back to Normal

Health Care

Last September, President Biden said the COVID-19 pandemic was over. But that hasn’t stopped him from extending the public health emergency until May and continuing to use the pandemic as a way to justify more than two years of lockdowns, school closures, and endless mandates.

It’s time we start getting back to normal. That’s why I helped pass legislation this week to finally end the COVID-19 public health emergency. The Biden administration should not be allowed to rely on an emergency that no longer exists to hand down authoritarian policies. Ending this emergency RIGHT NOW is the only way we can finally get our lives and our economy back on track.

But that’s not all. I also helped passed two more bills to get our country moving forward again, including:

  • The Freedom for Health Care Workers Act to end the federal vaccine mandate on our frontline health care workers; and
  • The Show Up Act to make government employees at the IRS, Social Security Administration, and other federal agencies return to the office and get to work addressing the massive bureaucratic delays and backlogs they’ve let pile up while teleworking during the pandemic.

It’s time for us to close this chapter and put the pandemic behind us. My hope is that, together, we can start looking forward again and deliver the hope and healing so many have been longing for.
