Helping Health Care Innovation Thrive
“This repeal will empower American entrepreneurs to pursue 21st century health care solutions that will change lives around the world.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) released the following statement after the Housed passed H.R. 160, the Protect Medical Innovation Act of 2015, which repeals the harmful medical device tax that is included in the Affordable Care Act.
“Our country’s health care industry is one of incredible potential — yet under the President’s harmful health care law, medical innovation has been repeatedly stifled by unnecessary and costly taxes. Today I voted to repeal one of the most egregious offenders — the medical device tax. This repeal will empower American entrepreneurs to pursue 21st century health care solutions that will change lives around the world and create high-quality, high-paying jobs here at home. This will help lower the cost of health care and speed up the rate of innovation. I thank Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-MN) for his long-standing efforts in getting this debilitating portion of the Affordable Care Act repealed, and I look forward to pursuing more health care solutions that put patients — not politics — first.”
