As Down Syndrome Awareness month winds down, I want to take this chance to again celebrate the ABLE Act. We worked together for years to get this bill signed into law for millions of Americans with disabilities—one of opportunity, independence and empowerment. I appreciate that so many of you advocated for legislation like this, which is commonsense and compassionate.

I’ve learned a lot from my son Cole. I’m a better person and a better legislator because of his impact in my life. Earlier this month I talked about Cole at Fortune Magazine’s Most Powerful Women Summit.

I am proud to be a part of the disability community. I am reminded every day of the tremendous possibility of every life and to celebrate what every person has to offer.
USA Today recently featured an article about lawmakers who advocate for causes close to their hearts.

Each one of us is a product of our experiences. With that we bring insight and passion to important causes that are shared by millions of other people across this country. I’m proud to be an advocate and champion for the disabilities community. And I want to be a partner for you, helping to move forward new projects and policies to help every person reach their full potential.

Thank you for the trust you’ve placed in me. I always love to hear from you, please be in touch.
