Improving Broadband for Expecting Mothers
For too many living in Eastern Washington, the lack of access to reliable broadband can make simple everyday tasks a headache, from checking emails to online banking. But for expecting mothers and their unborn infants, the risks are so much greater in their time of need.
That’s why I recently helped pass the bipartisan Data Mapping to Save Moms’ Lives Act to identify areas where lack of broadband access is causing harm to expecting mothers in order to better deploy critical telehealth services that can help save lives.
Because no family should ever have to worry about unreliable broadband endangering the life of an expecting mother or her unborn child. I’m confident this bill will help us take an important step towards improving maternal care in Eastern Washington and closing the digital divide once and for all.
