Investing in Healthy Forests and Safe Communities

In the People’s House, we’ve reached an agreement that secures an important investment for fighting fires and keeping our forests healthy.

After a summer of devastating forest fires that ravaged our region, this is great news for Eastern Washington.

Here’s a quick look at what the agreement does:

  • Secures the most significant investment in decades to fight fires.
  • Provides funds to manage hazardous fuels to help keep our forests healthy and prevent forest fires.

Throughout the summer, Rep. McMorris Rodgers visited the firefighting teams who work tireless hours to keep all of us safe. And this fall, she held a roundtable discussion in Spokane with community leaders and Sen. Maria Cantwell to discuss strategies to combat and prevent wildfires.

As Rep. McMorris Rodgers has said, we must do all we can to prevent such destruction and devastation from happening again.
