Iran Deal

Iran is the largest sponsor of terrorism and continues to play a destructive and destabilizing role in the world. As I traveled throughout Eastern Washington during the August work period, this deal was a top concern.

Iran’s actions are destroying the lives of millions of innocent people. The current refugee crisis throughout Europe is only the most recent example. Iran has been propping up Assad’s regime in Syria for the past four years, sending weapons and thousands of fighters there to brutalize the Syrian people.

It isn’t Republicans vs. Democrats, liberals vs. conservatives. It isn’t anti-President Obama. The American people are sincerely worried about what this deal means for the safety and security of their country—and more importantly, their own family.

I am not asking the President to stop his efforts to reach an agreement with Iran. We want a better deal. A deal that truly signifies a movement towards peace within the region.

We are asking that President Obama continue and strengthen his efforts so that we get a deal that:

1. Truly denies Iran a path to a nuclear weapon by dismantling its extensive nuclear infrastructure
2. Includes a robust inspections process – one that isn’t conducted by Iran itself
3. Compels Iran to cease its support for terrorist organizations and brutal dictators like Assad, whose actions are destabilizing the entire region—and now Europe as well.
