Keystone Pipeline: It’s Time to Build

It's my goal to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and get Americans back to work. That’s why I supported H.R. 3, the Northern Route Approval Act, which will finally lead to the creation of the Keystone XL Pipeline. The pipeline is just one of dozens of infrastructure and energy development projects that have been stalled by the slow federal bureaucracy. It’s unforgiveable at a time when unemployment is high and literally millions of people are looking for work. Our workforce participation rate – the percentage of people working – is at the lowest level since 1979. The Keystone pipeline construction alone will create 20,000 jobs and provide access to American oil. The House remains focused on economic growth and legislation to spur more hiring. Washington, D.C.’s famous gridlock should not be making life difficult for hardworking taxpayers.
