WASHINGTON, DC – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement today after the House passed the Conference Report to S. Con Res. 11, which establishes the budget for the United States Fiscal Year 2016, and sets forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2017 through 2025. The bicameral FY 2016 budget balances the budget within ten years without raising taxes, and contains over $5 trillion in savings. 

“For families across the country, a balanced budget isn’t just a priority for their finances – it’s also a priority for their future. Today, I voted to make sure Washington, D.C. has the same mindset. Our budget is the first step toward putting our country back on a fiscally responsible track – balancing in less than ten years with no new taxes, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent more responsibly and efficiently. We’ve made sure American priorities like a strong national defense, increased employment opportunities, and the preservation of Medicare are fully funded – and at the same time, we’ve repealed Obamacare, and cut out redundancies that waste taxpayer dollars. I applaud Chairman Price (R-GA) and our colleagues in the Senate for their hard work in crafting a balanced, transparent budget that empowers current and future generations.
