McMorris Rodgers Announced as Ranking Member on Energy and Commerce Committee’s Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee
WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 15, 2019) – Today, Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) was announced as the lead Republican on the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce for the 116th Congress, formerly the Subcommittee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection.
“From how we communicate to how we get to work to how we pay for food at the grocery store, today technology is part of nearly every aspect of our lives,” said McMorris Rodgers. “As technology, data, privacy, cybersecurity, and other issues continue to dominate the future of our economy, I’m ready to drive the policy discussions about these complex and important topics and find solutions to lead us into the future.”
The Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee is at the forefront of issues relating to our 21st Century economy. It has jurisdiction over the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), including interstate and foreign commerce, all trade matters within the jurisdiction of the full committee, data security, consumer protection, motor vehicle safety, and more.
