McMorris Rodgers, Bishop Announce 2021 Virtual Military Family Summit
Washington, D.C. (October 12, 2021) – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) and Congressman Sanford Bishop (GA-02), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Military Family Caucus (CMFC), announced the annual Congressional Military Family Caucus Summit will be held virtually on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM PT.
“When someone joins the military, it’s not just a job—it’s a family commitment to our country,” said Rodgers. “That’s why every year, Congressman Sanford Bishop and I host this summit to put a microphone in front of our military families to highlight the unique challenges they face and then go to work on their behalf. I’m excited about this year’s summit and encourage military families to join us in discussing these issues and finding solutions.”
The Congressional Military Family Summit will bring together military families with Members of Congress and their staffs, officials from the Department of Defense, and personnel from numerous military family support organizations to discuss critical issues impacting America’s service members and their families. The summit will also include discussions exploring the challenges service members and military families face surrounding spousal employment and education surrounding grades K-12 and children with special needs.
Keynote speakers at this year’s event include:
- Dr. Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States
- Michael A. Grinston, Sergeant Major of the Army
- MG Patrick Donahoe, CG, U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence
The CMFC is a bipartisan congressional caucus that educates elected officials, congressional staffers, senior military leaders, and the public on a wide range of unique issues that affect military families.
