McMorris Rodgers Calls for Increased Funding for Paycheck Protection Program
Apr 17, 2020Budget & Fiscal Responsibility Business & Economic Development WASHINGTON, D.C. – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) today called for increased funding for the Paycheck Protection Program to support small businesses and their employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Eastern Washington small businesses are struggling right now through no fault of their own. The economic crisis brought on by the COVID-19 global health pandemic is unprecedented,” said McMorris Rodgers. “We moved quickly to provide relief to small businesses, but it’s clear more support and funding for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is needed. I encourage Speaker Pelosi and Leader Schumer to drop their objections to the President’s request for $251 billion more in funding for PPP and pass this bill immediately to bring certainty to small businesses—the engines of our economy. This will help them keep employees on their payroll during this difficult time.”
NOTE: The CARES Act, which was signed into law on March 27, included $350 billion for the Paycheck Protection Program.
