WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a House Republican press conference today, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) highlighted the work she is doing to empower middle-class families across Eastern Washington, including tax reform and creating more good-paying jobs.
Remarks as Prepared for Delivery:
Last week, the President used a lot of middle class rhetoric. But let me tell you about middle class reality. Right now, in every corner of this country, middle-class families are struggling to make ends meet. They’re the moms and dads I talk to when I’m at the grocery store in Spokane – who can barely afford to pay their bills at the end of the month. They’re our nurses who work double night shifts, our restaurant workers who’ve been laid off, and America’s young families who face rising costs at home.
In fact, more middle-class Americans than ever before are falling to the bottom.
Well – we’re going to make sure they to climb to the top. That’s why we’re advancing bottom-up economic policies that empower middle-class Americans. Not with tax hikes – but with tax reform. Not with more regulations – but with more jobs. And not with bigger government – but with bigger wages. Our policies empower people, not Washington. We invite the President to join us in making that a real middle class reality.
