McMorris Rodgers Introduces Bipartisan Resolution Recognizing Girl Scouts’ 112th Anniversary

Washington, D.C. –  Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) today introduced a bipartisan resolution recognizing the 112th anniversary of the founding of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America.

“Growing up in a rural community, the Girl Scouts helped give me the courage to dream big and teach me the skills I needed to make my dreams a reality – and I’m not alone. For 112 years, the Girl Scouts have encouraged young girls across America to live courageously, follow their hearts, see their own potential, and be risk takers,” said Rodgers. “As a leader of Troop Capitol Hill, I’m proud to recognize the Girl Scouts today for their commitment to empowering the next generation of women to rise up and be bold leaders in everything they do.”

The Girl Scouts of the USA was founded on March 12, 1912 with eighteen girls in Savannah, Georgia. The organization now includes 1.8 million girls and over 50 million alumni. It serves as the largest, most impactful leadership program for girls in the world. The resolution would recognize the Girl Scouts of the United States of America for 112 years of service, congratulate all Girl Scouts who earned the Gold Award in 2023, encourage the Girl Scouts to continue to champion their ambitions, nurture creativity, and support the talents of future women leaders.

Cathy joined Representatives Young Kim (CA-40), Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), and Debbie Wasserman Schltz (FL-25) in introducing this resolution.
