McMorris Rodgers Recognizes International Holocaust Remembrance Day
WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 27, 2017) – Today, Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) released the following statement in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day:
“Today we remember the Holocaust and its victims from the dark era when racism swept across Europe and condemned millions of innocent people to horrific deaths. As the Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel warned years ago, ‘to forget a holocaust is to kill twice,'” said McMorris Rodgers.
“In that terrible time, the United States led the free world to vanquish tyranny and restore a peace based on America’s highest ideals of individual freedom and democracy. We remain today what we have always been: the last, best hope for mankind. As we pay homage to the memory of the Jewish people and all those who perished, who survived, and who fought alongside us, we are humbled and resolved that the scourge of intolerance will never again darken our history.”
