McMorris Rodgers Statement on Consolidated Appropriations Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) issued the following statement after voting in favor of the Consolidated Appropriations Act to fund the government and secure additional resources in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In this agreement, Republicans pushed back against frivolous spending while making sure American families and small business owners are taken care of. To help those hurt by the pandemic, the COVID-19 relief effort will send checks directly to families in Eastern Washington, increase unemployment benefits for those who have lost their jobs, support farmers and ranchers, and extend the PPP program for small businesses owners all throughout America,” said McMorris Rodgers. “I was also proud to secure wins for Eastern Washington in this omnibus bill, including extending the Teaching Health Center program for three years, passing my American COMPETE Act to promote American leadership against China in emerging tech, securing a pay raise for our troops, fully funding the Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program, and extending the Water Resources Development Act to support our ports and river system. This package isn’t perfect, but it’s important we took action, after months of partisan delays, to provide relief to Eastern Washington families.”
