Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) released the following statement the House passed a package of bills referred to as Tax Reform 2.0. These bills lock in the historic reforms of the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act to protect middle-class and small business tax cuts, promote family savings, and advance the next generation of entrepreneurs.

“An accountant in Spokane ran his own analysis of Republican tax reform. He found that every household type at every income level is saving money under the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act. That means that families of all shapes, sizes, and income levels are Better Off Now with more money in their pocket because of our policies. That’s why we’re taking action with Tax Reform 2.0.

“We promised the American people more jobs, fairer taxes, and bigger paychecks, and after our long-overdue tax reform last fall, we delivered on those promises. Our economy is booming, unemployment is at historic lows, and 90 percent of Americans are seeing more take-home pay. Most importantly — and I see this all the time in Eastern Washington — is the renewed hope and optimism for the future. Americans are dreaming again. Tax Reform 2.0 builds on those results to ensure that families can enjoy their tax cuts permanently and keep dreaming for generations to come.”

NOTE: Tax Reform 2.0 includes the following bills: the Family Savings Act of 2018 (H.R. 6757), sponsored by Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA); the American Innovation Act of 2018 (H.R. 6756), sponsored by Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL); and the Protecting Family and Small Business Tax Cuts Act of 2018 (H.R. 6760), sponsored by Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL).
