WASHINGTON, D.C. – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05), Republican Leader on the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce, released the following statement in response to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decision on the case of Texas v. Azar.

“Yesterday the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals confirmed that Obamacare’s individual mandate—which forced people to purchase coverage they couldn’t afford and didn’t like—was unconstitutional. That’s why we repealed it in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” said McMorris Rodgers. “It’s frightening that Democrats are doubling down on policies like Medicare for All that will lurch America towards socialized medicine with a complete government takeover of our healthcare system. To win the future, we need healthcare solutions that bring down costs, create price transparency, improve care and choice, and enhance access to new cures and treatments.”
