McMorris Rodgers Acts to Promote Security and Protect Personal Information
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05), Chair of the House Republican Conference, released the following statement today after the House passed the Health Exchange Security and Transparency Act of 2014, which will help safeguard personal information submitted to Obamacare exchanges:
"Since the launch of the Obamacare website, there's been tremendous concern over the safety of patients' personal and medical information – and this legislation addresses just that. It ensures that security breaches are properly addressed and that Americans are notified immediately if their information has been compromised. In the last few months, it has become increasingly evident that Obamacare is more than just a bad website – it's a bad law. In addition to rising premiums, cancelled policies, and reduced access, I am now hearing from people who are concerned about the security of their most personal information. As an original sponsor of this bill, I will continue to work to promote security and protect the people of Eastern Washington."
