“This is a national tragedy”

Washington, D.C. – Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05), Vice Chair of the House Republican Conference, released the following statement after Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (AZ-08) and 11 others were victims of a shooting today.

"I am deeply saddened and shocked by the shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords today.  This was a senseless act and a national tragedy.  I have had the pleasure of knowing Gabby through the Congressional Women’s Caucus and as members of the Armed Services Committee. I have always found her to be a smart, generous, and committed leader for the people of Arizona and America.  I am praying for Rep. Giffords, all the victims of this terrible tragedy, and their families.”
