WASHINGTON DC – Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) today issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 10, the Student Success and Opportunity through Quality Charter Schools Act, which encourages states to expand and replicate high performing charter schools. 

“A strong, quality education for our children is integral for them to grow, learn, and succeed – and charter schools provide that important foundation. By opening the doors to students so they can attend charter schools, we are ensuring them the opportunity for a better future, and by arming parents with the ability to meet their children’s needs – particularly those students who are disadvantaged, have special needs, or are English Language Learners – we can better ensure a quality education for children in Eastern Washington. Additionally, I look forward to watching the eight charter schools certified to open in Washington State, including PRIDE Prep Charter School in Spokane, give students quality educations and better opportunities for their futures.”
