4/17/24

H.R. 4639

Fourth Amendment Is Not For Sale Act

Passed  | 219-199, 1
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation stops the federal government from circumventing Americans’ Fourth Amendment right to privacy by closing loopholes that allow the government to purchase Americans’ data from Big Tech companies without a court order. This will protect the American citizen from government overreach and ensure that your personal data is protected.

4/17/24

H.R. 6046

Standing Against Houthi Aggression Act

Passed  | 285-135
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation redesignates the Iran-backed Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and reinstates sanctions on the group. We need to continue to protect Americans from acts of terror and ensure that we do not allow terrorists to be emboldened on a national stage.

4/17/24

H.R. 4691

Iran Sanctions Relief Review Act of 2023

Passed  | 278-141
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation establishes a procedure for Congress to review any action by the President of the United States to terminate, waive, or modify sanctions on Iran. Under the bill, the president must report to Congress on any planned sanctions relief and the reasons for the change in policy. Congress would then have oversight of the administration’s actions. Iran is a threat to our allies and we must stop empowering them on the world stage. Instead, we need to continue standing strong against them and all other foreign adversaries who seek to destroy.

4/17/24

H.R. 5947

To provide for the rescission of certain waivers and licenses relating to Iran, and for other purposes.

Passed  | 259-160
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation permanently freezes all Iranian-sanctioned assets, including the $6 billion in funds that the Biden administration unfroze on September 11, 2023, and prohibits the president from using any waiver authority, including licenses, guidance, or FAQs, to lift sanctions. Iran is a threat to our allies and we must stop empowering them on the world stage and do more to hold them accountable for the threat they pose.

4/17/24

H.R. 6323

Iran Counterterrorism Act of 2023

Passed  | 271-147
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation requires Iran to cease support for acts of international terrorism as a condition for the President of the United States to waive secondary sanctions imposed on the regime in Tehran. The bill also provides for a congressional review process for national security interest waivers of these sanctions, if Iran continues its support for global terror. The Iran Counterterrorism Act ensures Congress can weigh in before the executive branch waives sanctions on Iran. This bipartisan bill is critical for restoring Congressional oversight and holding Tehran accountable.

4/18/24

H. Res. 1143

Condemning Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel.

Passed  | 404-14
My Vote  |  YES

This resolution condemns Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile attack on Israel. We must continue to  reaffirm the House of Representatives’ support for Israel’s right to self-defense, support Israel’s right to respond to this aggression through means it deems necessary, and call on all countries to condemn Iran’s attack.

4/20/24

H.R. 8038

21st Century Peace through Strength Act

Passed  | 360-58
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation authorizes the President of the United States to impose certain sanctions with respect to Russia and Iran. Iran and Russia are a threat to our allies. We must stop empowering them on the world stage and continue to stand strong against foreign adversaries who seek to harm others. This legislation also included two bills I championed to crack down on TikTok (H.R. 7521) and data brokers (H.R. 7520) in the United States.

4/20/24

H.R. 8036

Indo-Pacific Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024

Passed  | 385-34,1
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation authorizes $8 billion to continue efforts to counter communist China. It also ensures a strong deterrence in the region by supporting Taiwan and other key allies and security partners in the Indo-Pacific by confronting Chinese aggression, while also strengthening U.S. military capabilities in the region.

4/20/24

H.R. 8035

Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024

Passed  | 311-112,1
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation authorizes $60 billion to address the conflict in Ukraine and assist our regional partners as they counter Russia by replenishing and supplying additional advanced weapons systems, defense articles, and defense services. This bill also supports continued oversight and accountability of aid and equipment provided to Ukraine.

4/20/24

H.R. 8034

Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024

Passed  | 366-58
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation authorizes $26 billion to support Israel in its effort to defend itself against Iran and its proxies by replenishing Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense systems, supporting the Iron Beam defense system to counter short-range rockets and mortar threats, as well as enhancing the production, development, and replenishment of artillery and critical munitions. This bill prohibits funds to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

4/20/24

H.R. 3602

Transnational Criminal Organization Illicit Spotter Prevention and Elimination Act

Failed  | 215-199
My Vote  |  Not Voted

Earlier this Congress I voted with my colleagues to pass H.R. 2, which would increase resources at the Southern border and stop the illegal flow of fentanyl across our open border. H.R. 3602 is nearly identical legislation to H.R. 2. In the House, it is not typical to vote on the same bill twice, but doing so only stresses the importance of addressing the crisis.  Unfortunately, I missed this vote due to unforeseen circumstances, but I would have been a strong “YES” on this legislation like I was for H.R. 2 the first time.

SUSPENSION BILLS

A suspension bill is a bill passed by the House through suspending the rules to move quickly, circumventing the House Rules Committee. Suspension bills are typically less controversial pieces of legislation, and as the rules are being suspended, they require a higher threshold, two-thirds of those voting in the House, to pass. Additionally, these bills are often passed by a voice vote, without a formal roll call vote.

4/15/24

H.R. 6408

To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to terminate the tax-exempt status of terrorist supporting organizations.

Passed  | 382-11
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation would revoke the tax-exempt status of any organization that provides financial support or resources to designated terrorist groups. Any organization providing material support to terrorist organizations must be held accountable and denied the privilege of tax-exempt status.

4/15/24

H.R. 5923

Iran-China Energy Sanctions Act of 2023

Passed  | 383-11
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation expands sanctions to cover Chinese financial institutions that purchase petroleum products from Iran. The bill also requires an annual determination as to whether Chinese financial institutions have engaged in sanctionable conduct. After Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel, we must cut off sources of funding for Iran and protect America, our assets, civilians, and allies around the globe.

4/16/24

H.R. 6245

Holding Iranian Leaders Accountable Act of 2023

Passed  | 419-4
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation would require the Department of the Treasury to brief Congress on the finances of Iranian leadership and require financial institutions to close accounts connected to these individuals. This legislation will provide a valuable window into the corrupt business practices of Iran’s top kleptocrats and limit their financial holdings which are used to support and sponsor terrorism.

4/16/24

H.R. 6015

Iran Sanctions Accountability Act of 2023

Passed  | 408-13
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation would require the administration to issue regulations to ensure that humanitarian exceptions to sanctions on Iran do not facilitate international terrorism or the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. It also would direct the United States Executive Director at the World Bank to oppose financial assistance to Iran. After Iran’s unprecedented attack on Israel, we must cut off sources of funding for Iran and protect America, our assets, civilians, and allies around the globe.

4/16/24

H.R. 5917

Strengthening Tools to Counter the Use of Human Shields Act

Passed  | 419-4
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation enhances sanctions enforcement and implementation against terrorist organizations that use innocent civilians as human shields – a scheme Hamas terrorists employed during their horrendous attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. The atrocities that Hamas terrorists committed are terrifying, and we need to continue holding the perpetrators of these acts of terror accountable.

4/16/24

H.R. 4681

Illicit Captagon Trafficking Suppression Act of 2023

Passed  | 410-13
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation would issue new, direct sanctions against the perpetrators who illicitly produce and traffic the lethal stimulant, Captagon. Assad’s murderous regime is propped up by his captagon drug that generates billions in illegal funding and devastates families in the region. We need to hold them accountable for their actions and continue to protect our allies.

4/16/24

H.R. 6603

No Technology for Terror Act

Passed  | 406-19
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation would make permanent the restrictions on the re-transfer of U.S. technology to Iran, who uses this same technology to build weapons systems such as drones to attack our troops overseas and our key allies.

4/16/24

H.R. 5826

No Paydays for Hostage-Takers Act

Passed  | 391-34
My Vote  |  YES

This bill allows the President of the United States to deny a representative of the United Nations diplomatic entry to the United States if the individual is sanctioned under specified Executive Orders related to terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. We must continue to stand against terrorists and their mission to harm our allies. This legislation ensures terrorists who take American citizens hostage are punished for their crimes, not rewarded with financial incentives.

4/16/24

H.R. 3033

Solidify Iran Sanctions Act of 2023

Passed  | 407-16
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation allows the president to impose sanctions on Iran that restrain the regime’s ability to fund operations that endanger U.S. military personnel, Israel, and our Arab partners.

4/16/24

H. Res. 288

Encouraging the EU to DESIGNATE Resolution

Passed  | 411-14
My Vote  |  YES

This resolution specifically urges the European Union to expeditiously designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization under the European Union’s Common Position 931. We need to hold Iran accountable for their acts of terror against Israel and ensure that we do not give them a platform to continue to attack our allies.

4/16/24

H. Res. 883

Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the slogan, “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” is antisemitic and its use must be condemned.

Passed  | 377-44, 1
My Vote  |  YES

This resolution condemns the chant “From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will be Free” as antisemitic. This slogan is antisemitic and calls for the total eradication of the Jewish, democratic state of Israel and the annihilation of the Jewish people. We must stand with Israel and condemn the terrorists that seek to destroy them.
