RULE BILLS

A rule bill is a bill passed through a full House vote under a rule that has been voted and agreed upon by the Rules Committee. Rule bills require a simple majority of the House to pass (218 votes) through a recorded vote.

4/30/24

H.R. 529

Extending Limits of U.S. Customs Waters Act

Passed  | 402-6
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation extends customs law enforcement authorities to operate up to 24 nautical miles off the U.S. coast. This bill will confirm that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) has the jurisdiction necessary to enforce our trade laws, ensure appropriate customs duties are collected, and keep American families safe from drug and human traffickers.

4/30/24

H.R. 3195

Superior National Forest Restoration Act

Passed  | 212-203
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation reverses the Biden administration’s 225,504 acre mineral withdrawal in the Superior National Forest, which was enacted in early 2023. It’s incredibly important to responsibly develop the critical minerals needed to power our 21st Century economy while lessening our dependence on Chinese-controlled mineral supply chains around the world.

4/30/24

H.R. 764

Trust the Science Act

Passed  | 209-205
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation requires the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to finally delist the gray wolf. Eastern Washington is no stranger to the gray wolf where since 2007 they have settled into the Northeast portion of our state with 30 of the 37 recognized packs. By delisting the gray wolf, we can allow people in our own state and community to use science-based management practices that will benefit both our endangered and native animals while protecting farmers and ranchers.

4/30/24

H.R. 615

Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act of 2023

Passed  | 214-201
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation prohibits the Secretary of Interior and the Secretary of Agriculture from preventing the use of lead ammunition or tackle on certain Federal land or water under their Departments jurisdiction so that law-abiding hunters’ options aren’t restricted by the Biden administration. We need to continue lowering costs for Americans, not increasing them.

4/30/24

H.R. 3397

WEST Act of 2023

Passed  | 212-202
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation would reverse a harmful Bureau of Land Management (BLM) rule that enables the Federal government to lock up lands under vaguely defined conservation leases. Rural communities across Eastern Washington rely on access to public lands for energy and mineral development, grazing, timber production, and recreation. We must continue to protect these public lands for Americans to enjoy and utilize.

5/1/24

H. Res. 1112

Denouncing the Biden administration’s immigration policies.

Passed  | 223-191
My Vote  |  YES

Under President Biden’s watch, more than 9.5 million illegal aliens from around the world, including suspected terrorists, have arrived at our southern border. At least 6.4 million illegal aliens have traveled to American communities. This resolution denounces the president’s policies that created this humanitarian and national security crisis, and now it’s time to secure the border and hold President Biden accountable.

5/1/24

H.R. 6090

Anti Semitism Awareness Act of 2023

Passed  | 320-91
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation seeks to combat the rise of antisemitic discrimination in the K-12 schools, colleges, and universities. We need to condemn all forms of antisemitism on college campuses and ensure Jewish faculty and students are safe from intimidation and threats.

5/1/24

H.R. 6285

Alaska’s Right to Produce Act of 2023

Passed  | 214-199,2
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation reverses the Biden administration’s harmful anti-American energy policies by reinstating statutorily required Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) oil and gas leases and canceling the Department of the Interior’s (DOI) National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska (NPR-A) rule. The United States is blessed with tremendous energy resources — and we need an energy strategy that embraces American energy dominance and innovation.

SUSPENSION BILLS

4/29/24

H.R. 5333

Investing in All of America Act of 2023

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation would increase capital available to small businesses, particularly those in rural or low-income areas, and those operating in the national security sector. Small businesses are responsible for 70% of America’s jobs. We must continue to give small business owners the confidence and tools they need to invest, innovate, and expand.

4/29/24

H.R. 7103

Agency Accountability Act of 2024

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation requires agencies that fail to meet their small business procurement goals to testify before Congress on their failures and efforts to meet these goals. The Agency Accountability Act requires federal agencies to testify to Congress if they receive below an ‘‘A’’ on the SBA’s annual procurement scorecard. I will always support policies that empower the private sector – especially small businesses – to create jobs and spur economic growth.

4/29/24

H.R. 7985

Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Reporting Act of 2024

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation requires the Small Business Administration (SBA) to submit a report to Congress on challenges faced by entrepreneurs with disabilities. The report will include an assessment of these entrepreneurs’ challenges and needs, detail what resources SBA currently provides to entrepreneurs with disabilities and recommend legislative action to improve how SBA serves entrepreneurs with disabilities. We should be doing everything we can to bring people with disabilities off the sidelines and into the workforce.

4/29/24

H.R. 7987

Plain Language in Contracting Act

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation ensures that federal contracting opportunities are written in plain language, making it easier for small businesses to secure government contracts. We need to continue to empower our small businesses and ensure that the federal government doesn’t crowd out growth in the private sector.

4/29/24

H.R. 4866

Fire Weather Development Act of 2023

Passed  | 341-48
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation improves Federal assessment of fire weather and fire environments, understanding and prediction of wildfires, and communications regarding such assessments with state and local emergency officials in a timely and streamlined fashion. Communities in Eastern Washington are all-too-familiar with the devastating impacts of wildfires. That’s why I have long advocated for active forest management reforms to reduce our risk of catastrophic wildfires that decimate our carbon-capturing forests and emit toxic smoke into the atmosphere.

4/29/24

H.R. 1069

Clean Energy Demonstration Transparency Act of 2023

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation would increase much needed accountability and transparency over projects managed by the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations at the Department of Energy (DOE) by requiring the Secretary of Energy to submit additional reports to Congress. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act, gave this new office $27 billion dollars a year with little to no oversight. You and your family have a right to know how this money is being spent.

4/29/24

H.R. 4755

Privacy Enhancing Technology Research Act

Passed  | 354-36
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation directs the National Science Foundation (NSF) to conduct fundamental privacy research to mitigate individuals’ privacy risks in data sets while maintaining fairness, accuracy, and efficiency. By reshaping how organizations handle user data and prioritizing the reduction of online risks for users, particularly children, we are actively creating a safer and more trustworthy online environment. This bill is the next step forward in protecting Americans online.

4/29/24

H.R. 7032

Congressional Budget Office Data Sharing Act

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation clarifies and strengthens the ability of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to access executive branch data. The bill would require CBO to continue to maintain the same level of confidentiality for the data as the agency that provides the data. This bill will continue to ensure that Congress has access to the data we need to effectively govern and ensure we are being fiscally responsible.

4/29/24

S. 474

REPORT Act

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation makes the reporting of online child exploitation and sex trafficking of children mandatory for electronic service providers, increases penalties for failure to report child sexual abuse material (CSAM), increases the retention period for CyberTipline reports, enables minors and their parents to report online exploitation, and minimizes access to CSAM images during intake and investigations.I think we can all agree that human trafficking is one of the most heinous crimes we face as a community. The thought of losing a loved one to such an awful form of exploitation is enough to keep any of us up at night. I am working hard to penalize these abusers and protect children from becoming victims.

4/29/24

H.R. 3722

Daniel J. Harvey, Jr. and Adam Lambert Improving Servicemember Transition to Reduce Veteran Suicide Act

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation creates a pilot program designed to counsel servicemembers about mental health, the challenges that they might face during transition to civilian life, and how that might affect their mental health. The bill would also inform servicemembers about the services available to them at their local Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical facility.

4/29/24

H.R. 5914

VETT Act

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation would modify requirements for information schools must provide to veterans and establish an online portal through the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to serve as a comprehensive resource center for training available to Veterans through School Certifying Officials. This bill will help alleviate barriers and streamline the application process so veterans can pursue the education path of their choice as they transition back to civilian life.

4/30/24

H.R. 4824

Carbon Sequestration Collaboration Act

Passed  | 364-44
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation revises and expands the Department of Energy’s program to research, develop, demonstrate, and commercialize carbon storage. Unleashing new advancements in carbon capture technology is a part of the bold, comprehensive, all-of-the-above energy strategy necessary to win the future and secure cleaner American energy.

4/30/24

H.R. 4877

Abandoned Well Remediation Research and Development Act

Passed  | 333-75
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation requires the Department of Energy (DOE) to establish a research, development, and demonstration program concerning abandoned oil and gas wells. We need a bold, comprehensive, all-of-the-above energy strategy to win the future and secure cleaner American energy. This must include real, workable solutions that unleash innovation in hydropower, nuclear, clean coal, and natural gas to reduce emissions, prioritize energy security, and keep energy costs low.

4/30/24

H.R. 6093

Weather Act Reauthorization Act of 2023

Passed  | 394-19
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation would improve the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s weather research, support improvements in weather forecasting and prediction, and expand commercial opportunities for the provision of weather data.

4/30/24

H.R. 3738

Veterans Economic Opportunity and Transition Administration Act

Passed  | 403-10
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation establishes the Veterans Economic Opportunity and Transition Administration to administer economic opportunity assistance programs for veterans and their dependents and survivors. We will never be able to repay the debt we owe to the men and women who selflessly served our country, but I believe we must do more to honor our promise to provide them with access to the best health care and benefits possible. Unfortunately, we have seen instances in recent years where the VA has lost sight of its mission to put veterans first, which is why I continue to champion solutions that hold the VA accountable and improve how it works.

4/30/24

H.R. 4016

Veteran Fraud Reimbursement Act

Passed  | 413-0
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation modifies the procedures by which the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) reissues misused benefits to a beneficiary, including by requiring the VA to establish methods and timing with respect to determining whether an instance of misuse by a fiduciary is the result of negligence by the VA. We must continue to roll out the red carpet for veterans and hold the VA accountable.

4/30/24

H.R. 1767

To amend title 38, United States Code, to provide that educational assistance paid under Department of Veterans Affairs educational assistance programs to an individual who pursued a program or course of education that was suspended or terminated for certain reasons shall not be charged against the entitlement of the individual, and for other purposes.

Passed  | 406-6
My Vote  |  YES

This legislation establishes a process for student veterans to have their GI Bill education benefits restored in qualifying instances, such as when a student veteran has been defrauded by an educational institution. This bill also puts in place an adequate system of due process to ensure fairness for both schools and veterans.
