H.R. 335 | To provide for an exception to a limitation against appointment of persons as Secretary of Defense within seven years of relief from active duty as a regular commissioned officer of the Armed Forces. | YES | This bill provides an exemption to the statutory prohibition against the appointment of a person as Secretary of Defense within seven years of that person leaving active duty. This waiver was specific to President Joe Biden’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, former Army General Lloyd Austin, who retired in 2016. In 2017 I voted in favor of the same waiver for President Trump’s SecDef Nominee, James Mattis. |
