RULE BILLS

A rule bill is a bill passed through a full House vote under a rule that has been voted and agreed upon by the Rules Committee. Rule bills require a simple majority of the House to pass (218 votes) through a recorded vote.

6/28/24

H.R. 8774

Department of Defense Appropriations Act, 2025

Passed  |  217 – 198
My Vote  |  YES

This bill makes appropriations for the Department of Defense for FY2025. This bill gives a much needed pay raise to our servicemembers, increases cooperation with Taiwan to counter the Chinese Communist Party, and saves taxpayer dollars by removing unjustified and unnecessary spending.

6/28/24

H.R. 8771

Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2025

Passed  |  212 – 203
My Vote  |  YES

This bill makes appropriations for the Department of Homeland Security for FY2025. This bill provides $600 million for construction of the southern border wall, increases US engagement in the Indo-Pacific to counter Chinese influence, and funds major disaster response and recovery activities.

6/28/24

H.R. 8572

Department of State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2025

Passed  | 212 – 200
My Vote  |  YES

This bill makes appropriations for the Department of State and related programs for FY2025. This bill supports our ally Israel in its war against Hamas, prohibits taxpayer dollars from being used to facilitate illegal immigration at our southern border, and deters Chinese influence in the Indo-Pacific region.

SUSPENSION BILLS

A suspension bill is a bill passed by the House through suspending the rules to move quickly, circumventing the House Rules Committee. Suspension bills are typically less controversial pieces of legislation, and as the rules are being suspended, they require a higher threshold, two-thirds of those voting in the House, to pass. Additionally, these bills are often passed by a voice vote, without a formal roll call vote.

6/25/24

H.R. 6586

To require a strategy to oppose financial or material support by foreign countries to the Taliban, and for other purposes

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This bill would require the Secretary of State to develop a strategy to discourage foreign countries from providing aid to the Taliban. President Biden completely failed in his approach to end the war in Afghanistan, and now the world is less safe. We need to ensure more military equipment does not end up in the hands of the Taliban.

6/25/24

H.R. 7152

Korean American Divided Families National Registry Act

Passed  | 375 – 8
My Vote  |  YES

This bill would establish a data repository through the State Department of information about Korean American families and their relatives in North Korea, and it would encourage cooperation between the U.S. and North Korea to help facilitate reconnection opportunities. This bill would also help Korean Americans reconnect with the families they left behind in North Korea decades ago in the wake of the Korean War.

6/25/24

H. RES. 901

Expressing support for democracy and human rights in Pakistan

Passed  | 368 – 7
My Vote  |  YES

This resolution expresses strong support for democracy in Pakistan, including free and fair elections. It should be the primary goal of the U.S. government, and leaders around the world, to encourage respect for basic human rights whenever possible.

6/25/24

H.R. 4132

Falun Gong Protection Act

Passed  | Passed by Voice
My Vote  |  YES

This bill requires the president to impose visa- and property-blocking sanctions on foreign persons that are knowingly responsible for, are complicit in, or have engaged in the involuntary harvesting of organs in China. I believe the United States should be a force for good in promoting human rights and democracy around the world, which includes holding human rights abusers accountable.

6/25/24

H.R. 2789

American Cooperation With Our Neighbors Act

Passed  | 368 – 19
My Vote  |  YES

The bill will increase cooperation between local entities in the United States and Mexico to combat the trafficking of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids. This bill is a critical step we must take to ensure law enforcement in our community and at our southern border can hold the people smuggling these drugs into the U.S. accountable.
