New Bills to Support Veterans and Their Families
As we celebrate Veterans Day this week, I’m reminded that we will never be able to repay the tremendous debt we owe to those who served our nation.
Our veterans and their families have sacrificed so much to preserve our freedom, which is why I am working hard to ensure they have access to the care and benefits they have earned. This week, I helped introduce four new bills to do just that, including:
- The Military Spouses Resolution to recognize and honor military spouses;
- The Veterans’ Preference Parity Act to give Reserve and National Guard members an equal opportunity for federal positions;
- The Veterans Patient Advocacy Act to provide veterans with more control over their healthcare, increase VA accountability, and ensure that patient advocates are readily available to meet the needs of our veterans; and
- The Autonomy for Disabled Veterans Act to help disabled veterans make much-needed improvements to their homes.
As Americans, we have an obligation to do all we can to help veterans when they return home from service – and getting these bills across the finish line would be a step in the right direction. There’s much more that needs to be done to ensure we roll out the red carpet for Eastern Washington veterans, and I look forward to keeping you updated on our progress.
