RECAP: McMorris Rodgers Visits Walla Walla, Meets With Veterans and Community Leaders
Walla Walla, Wash. – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) yesterday traveled to Walla Walla to meet with veterans, community leaders, and local business owners and discuss the issues most important to them. Below are some highlights and photos from her visit.
Volunteers Love Serving Veterans Event
Cathy began her day at the Walla Walla Regional Airport hangar where she presented local farmer and pilot, Mark Small, with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition and American. flag flown over the U.S. Capitol for his work on the Honour Project. In 2012, Mark and his wife Kathleen started the non-profit and purchased a 1942 World War II era biplane, which Mark has been used to fly almost 700 veterans over Walla Walla’s beautiful landscape for the last 10 years – free of charge.
After presenting Mark with the certificate for his incredible commitment to veterans and serving the community, Cathy met with veterans, answered their questions, and gave them an update on everything she is working on in Congress on their behalf.
Walla Walla Leadership Roundtable
Next, Cathy stopped by Hot Momma’s Espresso, where she held a roundtable to meet with local community leaders to discuss issues affecting the Walla Walla Valley, including inflation, workforce shortages, mental health, and how she can help deliver results for families in Walla Walla. Leaders in attendance included Chamber President Kyle Tarbett, Sheriff Mark Crider, School Superintendent Wade Smith, City Manager Elizabeth Chamberlain, representatives from the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation, Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance, Northwest Grain Growers, and others.
