Safeguarding Americans’ Right To Vote

Did you know that more than 500 non-citizens are registered to vote in local elections in Washington, D.C.? With more than 5 million illegal immigrants released into the United States under President Biden’s watch, we cannot allow this to become the norm across America.

Free and fair elections are the foundation of our democracy, but they only work if we all trust them. We cannot let them be undermined by allowing non-citizens to vote, which is why I voted to pass the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act in the House of Representatives this week.

This legislation is simple. It requires an individual to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections and makes it easier for states to remove noncitizens from their voter registration rolls. This is a common sense way to safeguard our elections and ensure only American citizens are able to vote.

Every American citizen – Republican, Democrat, and Independent – deserves to know that their vote is counted when they go to the polling place or mail in their ballot. If President Biden believes that fundamental truth, then he will work with us to get this bill through the Senate and signed into law.
