Securing the Southern Border

Military & National Security

President Biden’s handling of the crisis at the southern border has been a complete disaster. He has had more than two years to do something – anything – about the record number of illegal immigrants and deadly illicit drugs pouring into the United States. Instead, he pretended like it wasn’t happening.

He stopped construction of the border wall. He implemented the failed “catch and release” policy that practically opened our borders. He turned his back on border patrol agents who are stretched thin and suffering from low morale. The numbers don’t lie:

Unfortunately, things are about to get a whole lot worse. With Title 42 expiring yesterday, Customs and Border Protection is bracing for an unprecedented surge in illegal migration that we are not prepared to handle. The time for inaction has passed. Border security IS national security, which is why I stepped up to help pass the Secure the Border Act (H.R.2) this week to reverse some of the president’s disastrous border policies and get serious about addressing this crisis. Here’s what the bill does:

There’s no two ways about it: We need to secure our southern border once and for all – and H.R. 2 is a strong start.
