Seeking Answers on Rail Delays for Eastern Washington Farmers
Surging prices are a serious problem because when it costs more to feed cattle, fertilize crops, and fuel equipment, farmers are forced to raise the prices of their goods. This puts everyone in a bad position.
That’s why I joined my colleagues in urging the Biden administration to address rail service interruptions and increase rail capacity to help resolve the ongoing shortages of feed, grain, and fertilizer.
This is just one piece of the puzzle. I also demanded President Biden take action earlier this year to lower the cost of fertilizer by directing USDA to provide additional support for farmers facing financing difficulties, increasing U.S. gas production, and approving U.S. natural gas exports.
We depend on American farmers to feed people in our country and around the world. It’s critical that farmers can get the crop nutrients they need to feed our country and the world.
