Supporting Mothers and Children at Every Stage of Life

Earlier today, I was proud to honor the legacy of my dear friend and colleague, the late Representative Jackie Walorski, by helping pass legislation we worked on together to support women and children at every stage of life.

The bill is called the Jackie Walorski Maternal and Child Home Visiting Reauthorization Act, and it reauthorizes and provides funding for the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program. This program has been proven to help prevent child abuse and neglect by providing in-home services that support positive parenting, promote a healthy development, and improve school readiness.

Jackie lived every day to the fullest, and she served selflessly in the People’s House in the hopes of helping every person do the same, no matter the challenges they faced. This legislation will make a real difference for mothers and children across our country, and I could not think of anything that would make Jackie happier.
