McMorris Rodgers, Bishop to Host 2024 Military Family Summit at Fairchild Air Force Base
Washington, D.C. – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) and Congressman Sanford Bishop (GA-02), Co-Chairs of the Congressional Military Family Caucus (CMFC), will host the Congressional Military Family Caucus Summit at Fairchild Air Force Base, August 14, 2024, from 8:30 AM – 2:00 PM PT.
“Each year, I look forward to hosting the Military Family Summit and having important conversations about the unique challenges our military families face every day,” said Rodgers. “The summit is a special opportunity for Congressman Sanford Bishop and me to hear from the men and women serving our country and take what we learn back with us to Congress on their behalf. This will be our 16th Annual Military Family Summit – and my last as co-chair of this incredible caucus – and I’m confident it will be one to remember. We look forward to seeing everyone at Fairchild Air Force Base!”
“The Military Family Caucus Summit is an opportunity for Team Fairchild to share experiences and voice issues that are affecting military members and their families,” said 92nd Air Refueling Wing, Wing Commander, Colonel Chad K. Cisewski. “With events like this summit, our national leadership can better understand and advocate for the interests of our military families. We are grateful for the support this event receives and look forward to the work that can be done to help tackle issues for military families.”
“The Military Family Caucus Summit will provide a much needed and unique opportunity for us to learn more about the challenges our military families face, discuss ways in which we can improve their quality of life, and inform our work on their behalf in Congress,” said Congressman Bishop. “We must always remember that our servicemembers are at the heart of our national defense. They cannot be distracted with concerns about the well-being of their families. It is our duty to care for them so that our servicemembers can best protect us. I have enjoyed working with Cathy for 16 years in our effort to help make service in our nation’s armed forces more family friendly. I will miss her friendship and leadership as she retires.”
The Congressional Military Family Caucus Summit will bring together military families with Members of Congress and their staffs, officials from the Department of Defense, and personnel from numerous military family support organizations to discuss critical issues like housing and childcare impacting America’s service members and their families. The summit will also explore the challenges service members and military families face surrounding spousal employment, education for children grades K-12, and children with special needs.
The annual summit has alternated between the Infantry Museum at Fort Moore in Georgia and Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington.
The CMFC is a bipartisan congressional caucus that educates elected officials, congressional staffers, senior military leaders, and the public on a wide range of unique issues that affect military families.
