WASHINGTON, D.C. – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) spoke on the House floor this morning to discuss her vote on a resolution of disapproval on the president’s national emergency declaration. In case you missed it, you can watch her full remarks here:

In her remarks, Cathy said, “I’m 100 percent with President Trump for building the wall, but the emergency declaration only maintains the status quo. Securing our border is foundational to who we are as a sovereign nation. That’s why I’ve voted over a dozen times for stronger border security, including 25 billion dollars for the wall. Unfortunately, — as the president recognized himself—- this national emergency, could be tied up in the courts for years with no guarantee that judges will rule in our favor for the wall to be built. It’s Congress’s job to provide the resources our nation needs to keep us safe, and I’m concerned that if this is tied up in the courts, we will be stuck with the status quo of no wall and a border that isn’t secure.”
