I want to take a moment to recognize the outgoing and incoming commanders for the Spokane Military Entrance Processing Station. As you may know, the Station processes individuals for enlistment or induction into the armed services. Staffed by personnel from all military services, the stations are quite literally “Freedom’s Front Door.” The Spokane MEPS has been an active part of the community since 1965.

A sincere thank you to Commander Richard Obregon for his service to the MEPS since November 2008. Prior to his station in Spokane, Commander Obregon served a tour on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington, D.C. While stationed here, Commander Obregon was very active in the community. We wish him all the best in his next assignment.

I’d also like to offer a warm welcome to incoming Lt. Commander Olivia Lydia Bethea. Prior to her current command, Lt. Commander Bethea was assigned to the Naval Recruiting Command in Millington, Tennessee.

Please join me in thanking Commander Obregon, and welcoming Lt. Commander Bethea.

-Cathy
