Economy Needs More Oil
If you have some time, please read The Capital Press’ recent editorial, Economy Needs More Oil Production. The editors point out that “with few exceptions, the products we buy and the raw materials from which they are made are moved from the point of production to the point of retail sale by fossil-fuel-powered conveyances… Higher fuel prices put a strain on an already shaky economy…. We have always agreed with those who say we must reduce our dependence on foreign oil…But we repeat ourselves, and the obvious, when we say that the American economy is fueled by petroleum. Limiting supply is economic suicide.”
I agree, and that’s why I support a bold, comprehensive energy plan that would expand domestic energy production of oil natural gas while also expanding our commitment to produce more alternative energies, such as solar, wind, hydro, nuclear power, and biofuels.
When it comes to energy policy, our basic principle should be “more of everything.”
Boosting our domestic production is the only sensible solution until a viable alternative is perfected.
