McMorris Rodgers Joins in Introducing Legislation to Ensure Staffing Levels Along Northern Border
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 17, 2019) — Last week, Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) joined Representatives Brian Higgins (D-NY) and Elise Stefanik (R-NY) in introducing the Border Officer Utilization for National Defense (BOUND) Act to require minimum staffing levels at Customs and Border Protection ports of entry on the U.S.-Canada border.
“Many communities in Northeastern Washington rely on travel and commerce between both U.S. and Canadian towns for their livelihood,” said McMorris Rodgers. “While it’s important for us to address the crisis at the southern border, we must also maintain the integrity of our northern border and the relationship between communities on both sides. This legislation will ensure minimum staffing levels at these ports of entry to keep our country safe and support our local economy.”
