McMorris Rodgers on Fox and Friends: Celebrating Human Potential
My son Cole brings my family joy every single day. He’s a great big brother and an awesome son. He happened to be born with an extra 21st chromosome, and his life is worth living. Watch my full interview from this morning on @foxandfriends. pic.twitter.com/xpcupo0u74

This morning, Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) appeared on Fox and Friends to share that people with Down syndrome, like Frank Stephens and her son Cole, have lives worth living. In response to the late-term abortion laws being considered in states like Virginia and New York, she urged Americans to take a step back and celebrate the value, potential, and dignity of every human life. VIRGINIA GOVERNOR RALPH NORTHAM’S YEARBOOK PHOTO:
“When I saw it, it took my breath away. I join those who are saying that in order for us to bring healing to this country, he does need to step aside.”
CATHY’S FAMILY:
“We have an awesome son. His name is Cole. He’s 11 years old. He happened to born with that extra 21st chromosome. He’s a great big brother to his sisters, Grace and Brynn. I’ve only become a stronger advocate for the value and the potential of every life because I’ve seen the influence of him on our family and our circle of friends. I can testify that he brings us joy every single day.”
FRANK STEPHENS, “I WANT TO CHANGE PEOPLE’S HEARTS:”
“Frank Stephens is having a powerful impact. I was in the room last year when he testified in front of the House appropriations committee. He testified and said, ‘I have a life worth living. Despite what other people may say, my life is worth living.’
“At the end of his testimony everyone in the room gave him a standing applause. All the members of the committee, the Republicans and Democrats, [stood up]. I had never seen anything like it. It was so powerful and we need more of those voices and people who are looking at each person having value and potential.”
CELEBRATING HUMAN POTENTIAL AND DIGNITY:
“I would urge people to take a step back. Because of technology, we can look into the womb. We can see the development of the baby day-by-day. It’s the most amazing thing in the world. I became a mom later in life. It was the most amazing thing that I’ve ever done, bringing new life into the world. I would just urge people to take a step back and really consider what is going on and how precious newborn babies are. Let’s just consider what each person has to offer, their value, their potential, and celebrate each person. That is what we need across the board.”
