McMorris Rodgers Statement on FBI Raid of President Trump’s Residence

Spokane, Wash. – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) today released the following statement in response to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) raiding and seizing documents from former President Donald Trump’s private resident at Mar-a-Lago:

“Last night’s unprecedented raid and seizure of documents from President Trump’s private residence is alarming and raises a lot of questions. I am deeply concerned about the appearance that the Biden administration is weaponizing the FBI and Department of Justice to target a political opponent, which would be an egregious abuse of power. This sends a dangerous message to the American people that their Constitutional rights can be trampled because of their political beliefs. 

“The FBI is the top law enforcement agency in our country. They safeguard the integrity of our country and are a pillar of our society. Citizens deserve to have trust and confidence in their ability to carry out that mission, so I am eager to bring the agencies before Congress to get questions answered.”
