Washington D.C.—Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the Republican Representative to the United Nations General Assembly, released the following statement after President Donald Trump released his Vision for Peace.

“President Donald Trump is right. We are all united by our shared interests and values for a free and secure future. I look forward to learning more details and believe his Vision for Peace marks the beginning of what can be a historic achievement for Israel and the Palestinian people.

“Just like when he moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, President Trump is recognizing the realities on the ground. For that reason, I applaud the administration for leading on a vision that also prioritizes economic growth and prosperity in the region. This is foundational to achieve peace so Israelis and Palestinians are free to live, work, and seek opportunities to build a better life.”

Note: Last year, McMorris Rodgers led a congressional delegation to Israel with the United States Israel Education Association. They traveled to the West Bank to see for themselves the reality of economic cooperation between Israelis and Palestinians who live and work side-by-side ever day. During a special order on the House floor about their trip, she shared why economic prosperity and cooperation in the Middle East is critical to achieve peace.
