McMorris Rodgers Supports Passage of ‘Parents Bill of Rights’ in U.S. House of Representatives

Legislation Guarantees Fundamental Rights of Every Parent in America

Washington, D.C. – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) today helped pass H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights Act in the House of Representatives. This legislation, which Cathy helped lead, would put in place concrete legal protections to ensure parents always have a seat at the table when it comes to their child’s education.

“Having three kids studying at home during the pandemic exposed some of the radical ideas being taught in the classroom. Political agendas and woke narratives – from Critical Race Theory to gender identity – are being forced on young children as their math and reading scores continue to tumble,” said Rodgers. “This trend is not only alarming, it’s dangerous. I firmly believe parents must have a say in their children’s education, and this legislation we passed today will make sure they get it.”

The Parents Bill of Rights is built on five fundamental principles:

  1. Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught.
  2. Parents have the right to be heard.
  3. Parents have the right to see the school budget and spending.
  4. Parents have the right to protect their child’s privacy.
  5. Parents have the right to keep their children safe.

This legislation was a part of House Republicans’ Commitment to America and represents another promise kept to the American people.

Wounded Warrior Bill of Rights

The selfless men and women who put on the uniform in defense of our country do so without asking anything in return. We have a responsibility to ensure wounded warriors going through the medical separation process are treated fairly with the respect and dignity they’ve earned. Unfortunately, bureaucrats at the Department of Defense are making […]
