Rebuilding An Economy That’s Strong

Business & Economic Development

When President Biden took office, inflation was at 1.4 percent. America was energy independent, and we were the largest energy producer in the world. Gas was $2.39 a gallon, and families could afford to put food on their tables.

But all that has changed in just two short years. Inflation has soared to 8.2 percent. Thanks to  President Biden’s unprecedented war on American energy, gas prices have more than doubled. American families are struggling just to make ends meet.

One-party rule in Washington, D.C. is not working. Democrats don’t have a plan to fix the issues you and your loved ones are talking about around the kitchen table. Republicans do.

Fighting Inflation and Lowering the Cost of Living

Everyone knew that wasteful Washington spending would spur inflation. Millions in hardworking taxpayer dollars were sent to luxury resorts and ski slopes, even stimulus checks to prisoners like the Boston Marathon bomber. Yet after more than a year of crushing inflation, Democrats still have no plan to solve it. Americans can’t afford Democrats’ policies, but we are certainly all paying for them.

  • Total government spending has increased by over $9 trillion since February 2021
  • In June, inflation had increased nearly 550% under the Biden administration
  • Year-over-year food prices are edging up 13.5%, the largest increase ever

It’s time to rein in reckless spending, balance the budget, and rebuild a booming economy.

Making America Energy Independent and Reducing Gas Prices

Not long ago, America was the largest energy producer in the world and gas was affordable. The Biden administration then halted energy projects, shut down pipeline construction, and took every step to discourage the production of American energy resources. Americans shouldn’t have to choose between driving to work and putting food on the table.

  • Gas prices shot up more than 60% under President Biden
  • While the Biden Administration canceled leases and discouraged oil and gas production on day one, Presidents Trump and Obama each approved 10 times as many leases during the same period of their presidencies
  • Electricity prices are up 20% since Biden took office

We need to restore America’s energy dominance on the world stage and reduce our dangerous dependence on foreign adversaries like China, Russia, and Venezuela. That starts with strengthening our energy grid and lowering prices for you and your family right now.

Strengthening the Supply Chain and Ending Dependence on China

The frightening supply shock of baby formula this year was the tip of the iceberg of a broken supply chain that has increased costs and left store shelves empty. Record inflation is driving increases in the price of everyday essentials, while our country remains dangerously reliant on foreign countries like China for critical supplies, medicines, and technology.

  • Nearly 80% of small businesses said supply chain issues have persisted or gotten worse in the last three months
  • In June, baby formula was out of stock in over 70% of the country
  • Fertilizer prices have increased 30% in 2022, after increasing by 80% in 2021

Republicans have already been hard at work trying to repair our broken supply chains, and we are ready to crush America’s inflation crisis by curbing President Biden and House Democrats’ out-of-control government spending that is causing the price of basic necessities to go through the roof. We will maximize the production of clean, reliable, American-made energy and finally cut the permitting process time in half to reduce reliance on foreign countries. We will take action to prevent rolling blackouts and lower the cost of gas and electricity.

Together, we will build An Economy That’s Strong. That’s our Commitment to America
