Serving Eastern Washington Farmers and Ranchers
I’ve always believed our farmers and ranchers are truly the backbone of Eastern Washington’s economy. That’s why I am always looking for new opportunities to support our agriculture community that work so hard to provide food security to people across America and in countries around the globe.
This week, I helped send a bill to the president’s desk that would do just that. The Ocean Shipping Reform Act would take key steps to resolve ongoing supply chain obstacles that threaten U.S. farmers’ and ranchers’ ability to meet the increase in demand for our products. You’ll be glad to know the president signed this bill into law!
I also wanted to make sure you knew about a new opportunity for farmers and ranchers to get involved in your community. The Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is now accepting nominations to serve on local county committees that help make important decisions about how federal farm programs are administered locally. Supporting our agriculture community is a win-win, for you and the countless people who depend on your products to feed their families each and every day. If you have questions about this legislation or want to learn more about the FSA, please don’t hesitate to contact my office.
