McMorris Rodgers Statement on House Democrats Passing Inflation and Recession Act 

Washington, D.C. — Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05) released the following statement after House Democrats voted to pass President Joe Biden’s tax and spending spree that will raise health care costs and energy prices for Americans and their families across the country.   

“Democrats are doubling down on a reckless tax and spending spree that has led to the out-of-control inflation, high gas and energy prices, and climbing health care costs that we see today. Families are already stretching their budgets to afford groceries, keep the lights on, and fill up their gas tanks, all while struggling to find essential goods like baby formula. This $700 billion socialist agenda will only bring more pain to hardworking people by raising taxes and costs across every income level all so Democrats and President Biden can fund their agenda and seek more federal command and control in people’s lives. 

“The future under this scheme will lead to an ever harsher and poorer quality of life in America. It will mean more blackouts, more unaffordable electricity bills, more tax hikes, jobs being destroyed, no hope to cure diseases, long lines of the sick begging the government for more expensive lifesaving treatments, an army of IRS agents harassing and snooping on people’s bank accounts, and weak American defenses against our adversaries like China and Russia. This is not a future anyone wants.”
